Hoteliers have evolved with their understanding of modern guest expectations by anticipating and continuously offering more creative and personalized travel experiences. Modern travelers have proven that much of their consumer loyalty is derived from the idea of shared values with those brands they frequent. With this in mind, establishing an eco-friendly approach to the future of hospitality is ever important. The scope of the project came down to picking a client then applying different practices of sustainability and exploring unused spaces in heritage architectural buildings to design a hotel.

The Apple Hotel is a mixed-use development incorporating a Design hotel with a full-service condominium located in one of the most desired neighborhoods in New York City, Greenwich Village. Apple has an uncompromising level of customer service, and at the Apple Hotel, it will literally be at your fingertips. This is the ultimate “smart hotel”. As a guest or resident at the Apple Hotel, we want your stay with us to be seamless from arrival. As an extension of your AppleID, you will be able to use your fingerprint and facial recognition to automatically check-in upon entry. Using our private check-in portals, you can check in without having to wait. Once checked-in, your room will be activated and only your fingerprint or linked users will be able to receive access.

The floor plan is derived of a series of public spaces with a three-story open balcony lobby featuring a restaurant and bar on the third floor over-looking the spectacular infinity stairs and unique Mondrian inspired glass lift. Respecting the origin of the space which was designed as an auditorium in the 1930’s by renowned architect Joseph Urban, we designed a theatrical space and atmosphere, creating different stages of activities for our guests to enjoy.

ABOH is located at 231 Bowery, built for the year 2030 to assume all responsibilities of the back of house for the Apple Hotel. The floors are divided by engagement, security and machine responsive learning.

A central AI system connects all three floors and uses its predictive pattern recognition to highlight and anticipate all issues relating to the back of house.

Due to the nature of the programming, natural light was eliminated for optimal screen sensory and materials such as matte chrome and black steel with refraction light film to prevent glare.
